Spent the first week away from this blog down in Las Vegas. First trip there ever and also first trip to the infamous Interbike. Interesting times they were. Up early to get in a ride with a fellow co worker, breakfast on the way to the show and either standing or walking the rest of the day. Post show was dinner with reps, coworkers or other fellas in the industry and by that time I'd had enough smoke from the casinos that I was done. Dirt demo was rad, the show was rad and the amount of cool product was also rad although there was seemingly not as much cool stuff as I seem to remember from the past.
After enough of Vegas I made my way home and happy to be here. I don't mind traveling but I'd rather be home any time. With more of Fall in the air that pretty much led to one thing, 'cross. With very little time on the 'cross bike, that is time spent using it like it should be used, off road, barriers, mud, etc. The first race in the Utah series loomed.
Thats where the second week away begins, cyclocross. Knowing that 'cross is taken pretty seriously here I was a bit nervous. That and any lack of get down and dirty intervals had been left in the Midwest, as just plain bike riding is way more fun, but making my fitness questionable.
Whatever though, strap on the number and giddy up, we're away. Felt good but could feel better, ended up sprinting for third but having the worst sprint ever I ended fourth and I'm stoked, as the level of the field was pretty high. Like that for a play by play race story? This weekend and what could have possible been week three away from the blog if I weren't writing this, will be another race and a similar story for weeks to come.
I'm getting bored writing this so I'll leave it at that. Oh on a last note. Snow is in the air the mountains have gotten it. I get to view those majestic peaks each and ever day cycling to work. Shred seasons around the corner and a split board and some skins are going to make it as people are already out making turns...
p.s. I'll try and keep it shorter next time.
