Another weekend, another ripping cross race. #2 happened back at the same venue as last weekend, in Odgen. Course was ridden backwards and in my opinion, more fun and flowy and faster than last weekend. Fast would be an understatement.
Flat tyres plagued prerides, Amelia's race (less than 30 seconds in) ,more during preride and again late in the last lap. I'm glad that one didn't affect the sprint. In total Amelia's two plus my four made for a lot of changing tyres and also nervous times. Goatheads are really starting to annoy me.
In either case jumped off the line and into the first hairpin sitting 6th or so. Crashes pretty much split the race in the first lap and after running over Alex Grant I settled 4th to chase 1-3 with Jason Sager. That dude was a riot to ride with except for him bunny hopping the tall barrier on course. That made for a consistent catch up each lap. Basically we chased the whole race getting close but never there.
Mad props to Ali for the win, a much deserved one and from the sounds of it it was a pretty evenly matched race against Bart.
For this week. A new groupo on the cross bike rids me of the single ring up front. I'm selling off the road bike so the 'cross bike is all I'll be using on the road and off. Oh and this group now brings me into the realm of 10sp. Finally. Also new tyres are on the horizon, clinchers first to rid myself of these 5 year old tyres I'm racing, and the tubulars to mount to something special. More to come when I receive them. The setup is going to be the most ridiculous out there...
Thanks also to Shannon for the write up on MTB race news. Its fun to come into a scene unknown and start to make people nervous, people are starting to recognize now though which makes it even more fun.
