::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

It might be unknown that up until a few years ago I was a pretty heavy gear headed oriented fella. Cars were a big passion and working and wrenching was my past time. When I moved to MKE for school that pretty much went out the door. No way was it a bad thing as my focus was on school (and cycling) and cars are damn expensive. My car was a tuned '90 VW Corrado G60 (apparently I don't have any digital pics of it, what the?!). When I bought it barely made it home but when I was sold it it was beautiful. Fully rebuilt and a perfect body. Slightly modded but kept in the realm of OEM+, which is nearly stock with a handful of mods to the body and engine.

Where my going with this you ask? Well, I transferred that motor head bug to my brother who now owns 2 VW's. Yeah, we're German car junkies. And I thought I babied my car. His first VW was a beat up (read: busted) '91 GTI, which now could honestly sit on a showroom floor and be sold as a brand new car. It's impressive the work he and my dad have done. Again OEM+ and hasn't seen rain or snow since probably the last time it snowed in spring of '08. Before he got his "winter" car he just wouldn't go out if there was a chance of precip. Hilarious but dedicated to the cause and its paid off. At the annual VW fest, Treffen, down in IL, he took top honors in the Mark II GTI category. His first showing and and won first prize. So what's the winter car? Its a early '90s Jetta Eco Diesel Wolfsburg addition. Again one of those stories where it was bought, towed home (again: busted), and now, a few months later could be passed as brand new. Pretty cool and impressive.

Well, my bro keeps me up to date on everything motor and sent me this link last night. The first I hadn't seen but the second is from DC's Mtn. Lab 1.5 shred video. Good stuff for blah Tuesday. Ken Block, killing it.

If boarders didn't have such an odd view for cool, I'd be wondering why the car was in the shred zone.....

...and then someone made the statement. I should have waited till the vid was over.
